Recently, the Air Pollution Control Group of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, led by Prof. Naiqiang Yan, published a paper entitled “Asymmetric Ru-In Atomic Pairs Promote Highly Active and Stable Acetylene Hydrochlorination” in Nature Communications, in collaboration with Prof. Pengfei Xie of Zhejiang University and Prof. Bin Dai of Shihezi University. This study proposed a Ru-In asymmetric dual-atom catalyst for highly stable acetylene hydrochlorination. By exploiting the d-p orbital hybridization effect between Ru and In atoms, a thermodynamic shift in the interaction between Ru and Cl intermediates is achieved, preventing overchlorination of Ru atoms and coke deposition.
