Recently, invited by Dr. Lei Ma, Professor Fudong Liu from the University of Central Florida gave a wonderful academic seminar titled "New Concepts for the Design of Oxides and Precious Metal Catalysts for Environmental Applications" in the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of SJTU.
Prof. Fudong Liu firstly introduced the methods for effectively controlling the structural transformation of single atoms in the redox process in detail, reviewed the research progress of new catalysts for selective catalytic reduction of NOx by NH3 and H2 at low temperatures, and further outlined the fine reduction activation methods that could effectively solve the low activity of Pt single atom catalysts in specific reactions. It was also introduced that the strategies for accurately regulating the metal site structures and coordination environment to improve atomic utilization efficiency. Finally, new type of Pt-based/Pd-based catalysts with improved hydrothermal stability was introduced, and the future prospects and challenges of industrial application of new environmental catalysts were analyzed.
