On the afternoon of June 12, invited by
Prof. Bo Zhang, Professor Wen Zhang from NJIT gave a wonderful academic
exchange entitled "Membrane Technology for Sustainable Pollution
Control" to students and faculty of SJTU.
Prof. Wen Zhang presented the team's research on various membrane technologies, including photocatalytic, electrochemical, and microwave-assisted anti-pollution filtration, electromagnetic catalysis, and nanoscale membrane characterization. They focused on addressing the limitations of conventional membrane filtration systems through three reactive membrane systems (photocatalytic, microwave-assisted, and electrochemical). The team successfully resolved clogging and deposition issues in membrane module filtration using different strengthening mechanisms. Insights on combining scientific research with industrial applications were also shared, drawing on experiences with manufacturers like 3M and Sterlitech.
